The Malayalam word ‘Avial’ is a curry which is a mix of many vegetables which is a unique preparation of Kerala cuisine. Likewise the band ‘Avial’ is proudly creating music in Malayalam language and unapologetically taking the cultural narratives and ethnic identity all across the world. They proved to the entire Malayalam music industry that what held back its music was not language but the style of presentation. Through their ‘Alternative Malayali rock’ style which is a combination of Malayalam lyrics and rock music they became pioneers in this music style. The band has its origin in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala in 2003. Anandraj Benjamin Paul,Naresh Kamath and John P. Varkey were the members during its inception. Tony John,Rex Vijayan and Binny Isaac are some of the current members. ‘Nada Nada’ was their first song.
